Pickleball Lessons in Sonoma
Our pickleball court sits above the Picpoul Blanc vineyard on Bonneau Road, in the Carneros corner of Sonoma, and it’s a good place to learn a new game. If you’ve never held a paddle, a lesson takes you from the basics to playing a real game by the end of the hour. If you’ve played a few times, it’s the quickest way to stop guessing at the rules and start enjoying the rallies.

What you’ll learn
A first lesson covers what the whole game is built on: where to stand on the court, how the scoring works, and the handful of strokes you’ll use in every rally, from the serve to the soft dink at the kitchen line. You don’t need any experience, and you don’t need to bring anyone who has it. By the end of the hour you’ll be playing.
Who teaches our pickleball lessons
Lessons are taught by Michael Brody, our in-house pickleball instructor.
Ways to learn pickleball at Anaba
- Private lessons. Just you, or you and your group, with the court to yourselves.
- Fundamentals clinics. Through the season we run group clinics for new players, open to everyone, with wine and wood-fired pizza in the Courtside Pavilion once the coaching is done. Dates go out to our mailing list first.
- Dink & Sip for club members. Anaba Wine Club members get a complimentary one-hour class for up to six guests. Email [email protected] to book.
After the lesson
Once you’re off the court, the tasting is a short walk away. Serve then Sip gives you an hour on the court followed by our Elements flight, a welcome splash and four Anaba wines poured by your host in the Vintners House or on the patio. It’s $65 per person, and a good way to put your new game to use the same afternoon.
